Often, immediately after an auto accident, the other driver’s insurance company is going to contact you and try to get you to make a recorded statement about how the accident happened, what your injuries are, or any other issues. I would avoid that because they’re going to try and use that against you later on. They might also try and give you a lowball settlement to sell your claim. I would avoid that as well.
They’re not compensating you fairly for your injuries. I would also avoid delaying treatment. It’s important that you treat within the first fourteen days after the accident so that your personal injury protection coverage will apply. It’s also important that you seek treatment immediately, even if you’re not in extreme pain, because symptoms usually don’t arise until a few days after the accident.
Avoid talking about this on any social media. Don’t post about how the accident happened, what your injuries may or may not be, or anything else. Just avoid talking about it completely. Avoid speaking with the other driver who hit you.
I’m often surprised at how many times my clients call me and say that they tried to fix their own property damage. Don’t try and pop out any dents in your car or go into your driveway and fix the property damage yourself because that can affect the evidence for our bodily injury claim that we’re representing you for.
Seek a qualified attorney as soon as possible so they can help guide you through the process. Call us at one-eight hundred BURNETTI.
