A driver was killed when she lost control of the car she was driving. The car flipped upside down into a pond by the roadside. The unfortunate victim was identified by the authorities as Jessica Desroins aged 23. The fatal crash occurred off the Interstate 4 in Orlando on Tuesday, September 8.
According to the details shared by the police, Desroins was traveling on the I-4 when she apparently lost control of the vehicle close to the Conroy Road. As she lost control, the car flipped and entered a retention pond.
The vehicle Desroins was driving at the time was identified as a Nissan Versa. The incident occurred at a small distance from the Mall at Millenia in Orlando. It happened in the morning and was reported to the authorities at around 8 a.m.
As the incident occurred, two off-duty firefighters witnessed it live. They jumped into the pond to rescue the occupants of the vehicle. Desroins was the only one in the vehicle at the time. As Orlando police dive team members also arrived on the scene, frantic attempts were made to rescue the woman.
When Desroins was finally removed from the vehicle, she still had a pulse. Authorities rushed her to the Orlando Regional Medical Center and attempts were made to revive her. However, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Her identity was initially withheld but revealed later on Tuesday.
Following the crash, the I-4 east’s two lanes were closed to the traffic. The lanes remained closed for several hours as the vehicle was removed from the pond.
